Therese

Therese is the Head of Healthmark Academy having joined Healthmark in 2022. Therese holds 28 years of experience in education having held positions as Director of Apprenticeship & Work Based Learning Department MCAST for 4 years, where she coordinated the start-up of the Apprenticeship & Work-Based Learning Department (MCAST) and lead the implementation reform of the national apprenticeship scheme. Therese also held the position of a senior lecturer of Health and Social Care at MCAST for 10 years and is specialising on work-based learning and practice placement in the field of Health & Social Care. Therese holds a first-class degree in History and Communication, a PGCE, a Masters in Diplomacy and a Masters in Human Rights Law from the University of Malta together with an MSc in Social Sciences form the University of Leicester. Therese is currently reading the final year of her PhD at the University of Malta, specialising on learning outcomes and apprenticeship.

Adrian Camilleri

Adrian Camilleri serves as an Administrative Executive at HealthMark Academy, where he works alongside the Head of Academy to apply his organisational skills and healthcare knowledge in ensuring the smooth operation of the institution.

He began his career in hands-on medical roles, gaining valuable experience working with individuals with disabilities and as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the emergency department. In addition to his clinical experience, he has a passion for teaching and has instructed courses in First Response, preparing others for high-pressure, life-saving situations. With a strong commitment to service and a focus on education, he is dedicated to fostering a positive and effective learning environment for both staff and students.

Geraldine Gauci

Geraldine Gauci is a secondary school teacher specialising in Health and Social Care. With a BA (Hons) in Health and Social Care Management and a Master’s Degree in Teaching and Learning (Health and Social Work). Geraldine combines academic expertise with a passion for education. Over the past five years of full-time teaching, Geraldine has been committed to inspiring and equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed for success in the health and social care sector.

Kris Vella Grima

Kris Vella Grima is a lecturer, researcher and activist in inclusion with a diverse educational background that spans multiple disciplines. His academic journey, marked by numerous achievements, began in 1984 when he studied at the Nursing School as an Enrolled Nurse. In 1987, he broadened his horizons by moving to London, where he worked as a cabin crew member for a British airline whilst following his love for travel. Upon returning to Malta, he continued to expand his knowledge, earning a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Malta and a PG Dip in Gestalt Psychotherapy. After graduating, he moved to Oxford, where he earned an M.A. in Palliative Counselling. On his return, he diversified his knowledge by graduating with an M.A. in Medical Ethics, an M.A. in Gender Studies, and an M.A. in Teaching and Learning from the University of Malta. He is currently an MPhil student at the University of Derby, focusing his research on Leadership for Inclusive Education.

Brenda Romano

Brenda Romano is a Secondary School Teacher and Lecturer specialising in Home Economics and Health and Social Care. Brenda holds 18 years of experience in education having dedicated over a decade to Health and Social Care, where she has equipped students with essential knowledge and skills for the field. Brenda also serves as a part-time lecturer at Healthmark, delivering CPD sessions on Communication and Ethics, and has conducted pedagogy lectures at the University of Malta for aspiring educators in Health and Social Care. Brenda holds a Bachelor in Education with Honours in Home Economics and Maltese, which provided her with a strong foundation in nutrition and well-being, and she further earned a Master of Arts in Vocational Education specialising in Health and Social Care, further enhancing her expertise. Brenda is passionate about education and lifelong learning, consistently integrating practical knowledge with academic insight to inspire both students and professionals alike.

Stefania Calleja
Stefania lectures our courses related to health and safety, and food and nutrition. She earned her Bachelor of Education, specialising in Nutrition, Family, and Consumer Studies in 2012. She furthered her culinary education by completing a Vegan Diploma at Demuths Cooking School in Bath, UK, in the summer of 2016, and an Intermediate Pastry and Baking Course at the Institute of Tourism Studies in Malta in June 2018. In 2022, Stefania achieved a Master’s degree in Education, focusing on culinary and nutrition education programmes. Since 2013, Stefania has been a Home Economics teacher and the founder of Healthylicious, an initiative dedicated to fostering healthy eating and awareness through cooking experiences. She has been a prominent TV chef and health educator since 2017, appearing regularly on television to promote nutritious and sustainable eating. Currently, Stefania serves as the Chairperson of Home Economists in Action (HEiA), a non-governmental organisation striving to enhance lifestyles and quality of life. She is also a part-time lecturer at the University of Malta.
